Building Confidence in Tinley Park: How Invisalign Can Change Your Smile

Our tagline is building confidence, one smile at a time. Invisalign in Tinley Park is the clearest example of what that actually means, and of what it asks from you in return.

The Real Reason

The Thing People Actually Describe Is Not Their Teeth

Ask someone why they finally booked the consult and almost nobody leads with the alignment. They describe a habit. Closing their mouth in photos. Turning their head slightly on a video call. Covering their mouth when they laugh at the Farmers Market in Harmony Square. A decade of small adjustments made so automatically that they have stopped noticing they make them.

That is the honest case for Invisalign, and it is why our tagline is about confidence rather than about straightness. Straight teeth are the mechanism. What changes is the number of times a day you think about your mouth, which for most patients ends up at roughly zero.

Tinley Park is a good place for this to matter. Downtown is walkable and social, with the Farmers Market and Music in the Plaza both running at Harmony Square on North Street. The 80th Avenue Metra station puts a large share of the village on a train into the city with people they work alongside every day. None of that is dental. All of it involves your face.

The Process

Four Stages, and You Are Doing Most of the Work

Clear aligners are a series of custom trays, each slightly different from the last, that move teeth a fraction of a millimeter at a time. The lab work is sophisticated. The daily part is not complicated at all, which is exactly why it is easy to get wrong.

1

Consult and Scan

An exam and an iTero scan build a 3D model of your teeth. We can show you the projected movement before you commit to anything.

2

Your Plan and Trays

The sequence is mapped out and the aligners are made. Small tooth colored attachments are often added to give the trays something to push against.

3

Wearing Them

Twenty to twenty two hours a day, out for eating and brushing, changing to the next set on the schedule we give you. This stage is yours.

4

Retention

A retainer holds the result. Teeth drift for life, so this is part of the treatment rather than an optional extra afterward.

Treatment length varies widely by case, so we will give you a range at the consult rather than a number on a web page. Many patients pair the finish with in house teeth whitening, since the trays make an obvious platform for it and newly aligned teeth are the moment people are most inclined to bother.

Head to Head

Clear Aligners Against Fixed Braces

Both straighten teeth. They ask for completely different things from the person wearing them.

Fixed Braces
Clear Aligners
AppearanceVisible brackets and wires for the duration. For some patients that is genuinely a non issue.
AppearanceClear trays that most people do not notice in conversation, and that come out entirely for a photograph.
ComplianceFixed to the teeth, so they work whether or not you are thinking about them. That is their great advantage.
ComplianceOnly work while worn. Discipline is the whole treatment, and it is the honest reason some patients should choose braces.
EatingA list of foods to avoid for the duration: hard, sticky, chewy. Popcorn becomes a hazard.
EatingNo restrictions, because the trays come out. Brush before they go back in, which is a habit worth forming early.
CleaningBrushing and flossing around brackets and wires takes real technique and real time.
CleaningNormal brushing and flossing with the trays out, plus rinsing the trays themselves.
Case ComplexityHandles the widest range, including severe rotations and significant bite correction.
Case ComplexityExcellent for crowding, spacing, mild to moderate bite issues and relapse after old orthodontic work.

The American Dental Association keeps a plain language overview of orthodontic treatment and caring for teeth during it if you want background before the consult.

Being Straight About It

When We Will Tell You Invisalign Is Not the Answer

A cosmetic page that only lists advantages is an advertisement. Here is where clear aligners are the wrong tool, and we would rather say it here than at the consult after you have already decided.

Complex Bite Correction

Severe discrepancies and cases needing substantial skeletal change are usually better handled by fixed braces or a combined approach.

Honest Doubts About Wear Time

If twenty two hours a day is not realistic for you or your teenager, brackets remove the variable. That is a legitimate reason to choose them.

Untreated Gum or Decay Issues

Moving teeth through unhealthy bone or around active decay makes things worse. Those get handled first, then alignment.

If a case is not suited to aligners, there are other routes to the same outcome. Veneers and bonding solve appearance problems without moving anything, and a full smile makeover can combine approaches. What is right depends on the exam.

Common Questions

Invisalign Questions from Tinley Park Patients

What people ask in the consult chair before they decide.

How many hours a day do I have to wear Invisalign aligners?

Twenty to twenty two hours a day, which in practice means everything except eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing. This is the part of treatment that decides whether it works. The aligners only move teeth while they are being worn, so a tray that spends its evenings in a pocket simply extends the treatment. If you know you would struggle with that, say so at the consult and we will talk honestly about whether fixed braces are the better fit.

Is Invisalign right for every case?

No, and any practice that tells you otherwise is selling rather than diagnosing. Clear aligners handle crowding, spacing, mild to moderate bite issues and relapse after old orthodontic work very well. Severe bite discrepancies, teeth that need substantial rotation, and cases requiring significant skeletal correction are often better served by fixed braces or a combined approach. The scan and the exam tell us which category you are in, and we will say so plainly.

Can teenagers get Invisalign, or is it only for adults?

Teenagers are treated with clear aligners routinely. The practical question is not age but responsibility, because a removable appliance depends entirely on the person wearing it. Parents of Andrew and Tinley Park High School students usually know the honest answer already. Where compliance is genuinely uncertain, fixed braces remove the variable, and that is a legitimate reason to choose them.

Do I need messy impressions to get started?

No. We use iTero digital scanning, which builds a three dimensional model of your teeth from a handheld wand in a few minutes. There is no tray of putty and no gagging, and the scan can be used to show you a projection of the movement before you commit to anything.

Will my teeth move back after treatment?

They will if nothing holds them. Teeth drift throughout life, which is why a meaningful share of adult aligner cases are people who had braces as teenagers and stopped wearing the retainer. Retention is part of the treatment, not an upsell after it. Plan on wearing a retainer as directed, generally full time at first and then nightly on an ongoing basis.

How often will I need to come in during treatment?

Check in visits are periodic and short, generally every several weeks, to confirm the teeth are tracking to plan and to hand over the next sets of trays. Because the office opens at 7 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday and stays open until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, most patients keep these appointments without moving anything else in their week.
