Planning for all three starts the same way: an exam and a CBCT scan that shows how much bone is actually there. If the answer is not enough, bone grafting rebuilds the site first. Either way you leave the consult with a plan and a written estimate.

The practical questions, answered without the brochure language.
Can you eat normally with dental implants?
Once the implant has healed and the crown is on, most people eat what they ate before. The post is anchored in bone rather than resting on the gums, so it handles corn on the cob, an apple, and a hard roll the way a natural tooth does.
How long before I can eat normally after implant surgery?
Expect soft foods for a stretch right after placement while the site heals, then a gradual return to a normal diet. Full biting force waits until the bone has integrated with the post and the final crown is fitted, which is usually a few months out.
Will a dental implant look different from my other teeth?
The crown is made to match the shade and shape of the teeth around it. In most cases the people you talk to will not be able to pick out which tooth it is, which is generally the point.
Do implants stop the slipping and clicking of a denture?
Yes, because nothing is resting loose on the gums. If you would rather keep a removable appliance, snap-on overdentures anchor to implants so the denture locks in place and comes out only when you take it out.
Is the implant procedure painful?
Placement is done under local anesthetic and most patients describe the recovery as more manageable than an extraction. We will go through exactly what to expect, and what to have at home, before the appointment is scheduled. The American Dental Association has a general overview worth reading first.
