Invisalign®: A Clear Solution to Braces
Have you been dreaming of a straighter smile but dreading spending years in clunky metal braces? Invisalign® aligner therapy could be the solution you’ve been looking for! Invisalign uses a series of clear, plastic straightening trays that are changed approximately every six weeks. These trays gently and gradually move your teeth into their perfect positions.
For many adults and older teens, Invisalign offers a number of benefits over conventional metal braces, including:
- Subtle, nearly invisible aligners, so no one needs to know you’re straightening your teeth.
- Removable straightening trays, so you can eat your favorite foods, and brush and floss your teeth like normal.
- Smooth, comfortable, custom-fit trays that don’t scratch up your cheeks and gums.
If you’re ready to get the smile you’ve always dreamed of, visit us for an Invisalign consultation.
If you’re looking to effectively and safely improve your appearance, you’ll want to talk to Dr. Kristina Stuedemann, who is a certified Botox® Cosmetic doctor. When injected, Botox relaxes the muscles and effectively improves the appearance of wrinkles, crow’s feet, forehead creases, and frown lines that are caused by the movement of these muscles. You’re welcome to come in specifically for a Botox treatment, or to combine a Botox treatment with your dental care appointment. You’ll leave our office with a healthy mouth and a more youthful appearance!
Tooth-Colored Composite Fillings
When cavities develop in teeth, it is necessary to protect the teeth from further damage with filling. If you’re worried about how your teeth will look following a filling, we have great news! In many instances, we are able to fill cavities with tooth-colored composite fillings. This means your fillings will be virtually invisible! And because these fillings bond better to teeth than traditional metal fillings, we are able in most cases to preserve more of your natural tooth. Schedule an appointment today to find out if composite fillings are right for you!
DURAthin® Porcelain Veneers
DURAthin veneers are an excellent solution for teeth that are chipped, widely spaced, or too discolored for whitening. They can usually be placed without the need for shots or drilling!
CEREC® One-Visit Crowns
With CEREC, we can design, make, and place crowns in only one office visit! Your single-visit crown will feel as good as your natural tooth, if not better.
Porcelain Crowns & Fixed Bridges
Dental crowns are often called caps. They cover teeth to restore them to their appropriate shape and size after large fillings, fractures, or weakening forces such as intense grinding. In all of these cases, crowns not only cover teeth but provide needed strength as well. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, cover dental implants, restore seriously discolored or misshapen teeth, and even as a preventive measure to protect a tooth in danger of breaking. Crowns in general are very strong restorations. In the hands of a skilled dentist, the meticulous preparation and subsequent molding results in a great fit both of the crown to the tooth surface and in the mouth with surrounding teeth.
Bridges attached to crowns replace one or more missing teeth. Bridges keep surrounding teeth from shifting, helping to prevent the need for more extensive (and more expensive) restorations in the future. A bridge is a more permanent and comfortable solution to a few missing teeth than dentures. Ask us about these restorative options at your visit with us.
Dental implants are an increasingly popular option for patients who need to have one or more teeth replaced. Unlike a denture, a dental implant is a permanent solution that remains in your mouth, more closely resembling a real tooth or teeth. With a dental implant, a metal anchor – similar to a screw – is surgically placed at the base of your jawbone. After the anchor is placed, the gum tissue and bone attach to the anchor, forming a solid base. This base is then used as an anchor for a custom artificial crown.
At McGonigle Dental Associates, our doctorsare trained in all phases of implant dentistry so you don’t have to drive to multiple offices to get your implant! Our advanced Cone Beam technology allows us to accurately and safely plan for the perfect implant for you. We’d love to tell you more. Periodontal Health (Gum Health)
According to the MedlinePlus, a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health, about 80 percent of U.S. adults currently have some form of gum disease, ranging from gingivitis to serious periodontal disease. The prevalence of gum disease increases with age, because as we age, our teeth wear down and our gums naturally recede. If your gums feel tender or look red and swollen, you may be at risk for gum disease. Other signs include bleeding and/or receding gums, extremely sensitive or loose teeth, and persistent bad breath. Left untreated, gum disease eventually leads to tooth loss and other serious health problems.
Treatment for Gum Disease
The first thing to do is get a thorough dental evaluation at McGonigle Dental Associates. If you have any degree of periodontal disease, we can help. Although gum disease often requires surgery, many cases can now be treated with less invasive techniques first, such as deep dental cleanings, local antibiotics, and special mouth rinses. A healthy body needs a healthy mouth, and a healthy mouth needs healthy gums!
- Oral Cancer Screening
- PerioLase® Laser Gum Therapy
- Endodontics/Root Canal Therapy
- Wisdom Teeth Removal
Oral Cancer Screening
More than 36,500 new cases of oral cancer are diagnosed in the United States each year. Fortunately, the cure rate is high when the cancer is detected early. That’s why we routinely perform oral cancer screenings during cleanings and exams. This is just one more reason why regular cleanings and exams are important to your overall health!
PerioLase® Laser Gum Therapy
Have you been told you need gum surgery? PerioLase could make a big difference in your life! It’s a laser alternative to traditional gum surgery and is an FDA-approved laser treatment for gum disease.
Endodontics/Root Canal Therapy
If you have a damaged tooth that is infected or is likely to become infected, you may benefit from root canal therapy. Despite it’s menacing reputation, root canal therapy is actually a safe and relatively painless procedure when properly performed!
During root canal therapy, the tooth’s nerve tissue is removed. It’s this nerve tissue which causes the sensation of pain in an infected tooth. By removing the nerve tissue and replacing it with a neutral filling, pain is relieved, and the tooth is preserved. More often than not, a dental crown is also placed on the tooth following the root canal therapy to ensure the tooth’s structural integrity is maintained.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth, also called third molars, are teeth that typically come in between the ages of 17 and 25. Often, wisdom teeth do not grow in straight, and may need to be removed so they don’t disrupt other teeth. Partially emerged wisdom teeth may also become infected, causing significant pain.
Although many dentists always refer patients to an oral surgeon for wisdom teeth removal, we can often remove wisdom teeth right in our office! Call today to learn more.
